Today at school there was a concert performed by Ramzi Aburedwan and the Dal'ouna Ensemble with special guest Lina Sleibi.
The concert was beautiful.
Some of the instruments played was the daf, tar, oud, and bazouk. In class I learned that when a concert is performed there will always be someone singing, but before that there is an interlude played by the instruments that I just listed. This happened at the concert.
Before Lina was put on stage, the men played the instruments for two songs. The second song was called Andalus. It was different than what we had learned in class where the oud would normally start and the others improvise. Here all instruments started at the same time, this could be because it was already a composed song.
After they performed Andalus they performed Path of the Bees by Fairuz. Lina sung this. There was a prelude before she started to sing where the oud started. After this song they performed Beautiful My Home Town. Everyone in the crowed stated to clap.
When everything was done, they got a big standing ovation. I loved everything about this concert. It was a nice experience. I especially loved when the percussion instrument and accordion had solos and all the musicians were smiling and looking at each other. It was also fun to hear my Arabic teacher singing behind me. Everything was enjoyable.
